Description
This is based on Sound Semiconductor SSI2144 reproduction of the original chip. Sound Semiconductor is headed by Dan Parks, the founder of Solid State Music. The SSI2144 uses the same internal circuit as the SSM2044 but incorporates improvements by the original designer (electronic music icon Dave Rossum) and takes advantage of modern process technology. SSI2144 uses a SSOP package so I made this PCB and used a really high quality DIL header.
It is incredibly small, same width and depth of a DIL chip and the pins are extremely thin, made to be used in a regular DIL socket without damaging it or soldering directly to PCB. This is a NEW chip, recently produced and surely much more reliable than old chips made more than 30 years ago.
